Eryonne White

The Identification, Prevalence, and Impact of the Superwoman Schema on Black Woman

Eryonne White, a rising 4th year Psychology Scholar on the Pre-medicine track at Florida Agricultural  and Mechanical University from West Palm Beach, Florida.  She aspires to be a Black Physician and Educator, dedicated to caring for and uplifting the black community.

In this workshop, we will delve into the concept of the Superwoman Schema, a societal expectation that places undue pressure on Black women to embody strength and resilience at all times. We will explore why it is crucial to recognize and dismantle this schema, understanding its impact and prevalence in our lives. Through insightful discussions and practical exercises, we will learn how to identify the signs of the Superwoman Schema in ourselves and others, and the detrimental effects it can have on our mental, emotional, and physical well-being.

By embracing practices of self-care, setting boundaries, and prioritizing our own needs, we can begin to release the burden of the superwoman cape and embrace a lifestyle of balance and renewal. Join us as we embark on a journey towards rest, healing, and self-discovery, reclaiming our agency and power as Black women.

Amber Warner, LCSW

S.O.S: Saving OurSelves

This dynamic workshop will serve as a beacon of light, offering a space for Black women to connect and prioritize our well-being. Drawing from the wisdom within our heritage, culture, and lived experiences. We will build on the strength of our historical resilience and resistance as we explore strategies for self-care, healing, and personal growth.

At the heart of this experience is the recognition of the mind/body connection and its profound impact on our well-being. By deepening our understanding of the interconnectedness of our thoughts, emotions, actions, reactions, and physical health, we will begin to cultivate wholeness and break free from the chains of generational trauma, internalized, relationalized and societal oppression.

Utilizing the Triple A method - Awareness, Acceptance, and Application - we will embark on a journey of self -discovery and transformation. This process includes the identification of common self-defeating beliefs to stimulate awareness for transformation and the restoration of our crowns. Together, we will identify the barriers that hold us back from living our best lives and develop practical strategies for nourishing it. Through radical self-acceptance, intentional action, and mutual support, we will reclaim our agency and chart a course toward unwavering liberation.
